We have just completed a new amplifier using the circuit in the production of the famous YAMAMOTO A-08 (using 45 tube). The value of the components remains unchanged though most of them will be different from the original product. As we can see the specification of the output transformers and the power transformer for both amps are nearly identical,  we can expect similar output power obtainable from both amps  though the sound character will be quite different from each other.

After audition for some time, we are quite pleased with the result. Compare with the other 45 tube amps using 6SN7 as the driver, the WE717A tube really give more musical and enjoyable sound. We cannot say which one is better than the other because you can swap different makes of 6SN7 tubes by varies makers to tailar-made the sound signature that is most suitable to yourself, while there is only two types (tungsol and sylvania, both look the same to me) of 717A you can try.
